Annual Jasper County Open Horse Shows July 16^th  & 17^th

Come on out and cheer on the horse & pony exhibitors at the Jasper County Fairgrounds July 16^th & 17^th. The Annual Open Speed Horse Show will be taking place beginning at 10:00 CST on Saturday, July 16, 2011. At the speed show you will have the opportunity to watch some of the fastest horses in Northwest Indiana go around barrels and weave poles, it’s very exciting to watch the athleticism of each one of these animals. Even more exciting is watching their rider’s ability to handle the 1200 pounds underneath them!

On Sunday, July 17, 2011 the Jasper County Fair Association is hosting their annual Open Pleasure Horse Show beginning at 9:00 CST. This event is a judged event on several entities of the conformation and movement of each horse. Some classes are judged solely on how well the exhibitor controls their horse both on the ground and while riding when doing patterns which require many difficult obstacles.

So come on out and enjoy the good food, entertainment, and make some new friends while you’re at it…  We’ll see y’all there!

Show Starts at Noon, CDT

Entry Time will be from 6:30 am to 10:00 am

The Entry Fee will be $4.00 for each Breeding Class and $6.00 for each Market Class.

Show Orders and Breeds:
*Hampshire, Dorset, Suffolk, Cheviots, Corriedale, Shropshire, Oxford, Southdown, Montadale, and Crossbred.  (classes will be added for other breeds)
*Classes for Breeding Stock.
*Market Lambs will be divided into not less than 4 classes.  (Market Lambs- Wethers and Ewes- will be weighed at 10:00 am and classes will be established by weight.

PRIZES

Grand Champion Market Lamb:  $125 and Director's Chair

Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb:  $75

Sweepstakes Ewe:  $30 and Director's Chair

Grand Champion Ram:  $30 and Ribbon

Jasper County Retired Iron Club

Come to the 2011 Jasper County Fair from July 16-22. See the 4-H projects, the midway, rides, and attractions at the grandstand. When you come in the front gates, look to your right and see the old post office, the one room school house and the blacksmith shop. But the best bet of all is the Antique Tractors and collectibles at the Jasper County Retired Iron Club building. This year we are featuring IH tractors. See us on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. as we parade our tractors around the fairgrounds. Walk through our building and buy a raffle ticket to win an IH pedal tractor, two cash prizes, or a collectable pocket knife.
