Open Class Exhibits - Join the Fun!!!

Open Class building.......

Have you grown some beautiful flowers or vegetables? 

Perhaps this winter you completed an art project or 

some time took some great photos?  Have you mastered 

the perfect pie, cake or cookies??  Maybe you are 

proud of some recent canning or other food preservation? 

Or have you been sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, 

or any other craft activities??? 

The Open Class Building at the Jasper County Fair is the 

place to share all these talents and more!  Check the 

fairbook for a complete list of the classes available to 

enter.  Fairbooks, entry tags and entry forms are all 

available at the Extension Office before the fair.  All 

exhibits need to be entered July 16.  Check with the 

extension office for further details...

Friday Afternoon, July 22nd

Open Class Building  

Stop by between 3 and 8 and visit several booths related to 

leading a healthier lifestyle.  Among the booths will be 

information on Dental Health, Nutrition, Senior Living, and 

several wellness checks including Blood pressure screenings 

will be available.  Associations have been contacted that 

support research for disease prevention and education. 

Stop by for great information!!!

Extension Homemakers Showcase of Fashion

The Jasper County Extension Homemakers are pleased to host the Showcase of Fashion. 

This is an opportunity for sewers and craft people to model garments made for 

themselves or others since September 1, 2010.  It is open to anyone and divided 

into categories by ages (up to 20, 21 - 50, 51 and above or professionals). 

There are a variety of categories. Pre-fair judging is July 11 and the Public 

Showcase is July 19 in the open class building.  Applications are available at the 

Extension Office.  See you at the Fair!!!

"Safety Day" at the Jasper County Fair

 

McDonald’s Presents “Safety Day” at the Jasper County Fair:

This year in addition to sponsoring the Demolition Derby the Northwest Indiana McDonald’s Owners will also be hosting a special “Safety Day” for the attendees of the Jasper County Fair.

Jasper’s first ever McDonald’s presents “Safety Day” will take place on Sunday, July 17th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

Representatives from the Rensselaer Police Department as well as the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department will be on-site conducting presentations with K9 units, speaking about bike safety and teaching parents how to fill out fingerprinting/DNA kits. The Rensselaer Police Department has agreed to provide several hundred DNA/Fingerprinting kits for parents and children to take home and store in a safe place in case of an emergency.

You won’t be able to miss it as McDonald’s will be represented by a 10X10 red and yellow canopy tent. Be sure to stop by and play some McDonald’s trivia with the possibility of winning several types of McDonald’s themed prizes! McDonald’s will also be providing free nutritional and new product information.
